Essential nutrients are compounds the body needs to perform basic functions and grow. These nutrients must come from food because the body can’t make or produce sufficient amounts of them. There are two types of nutrients.
Macronutrients
These are the primary building structure of your diet and provide your body with energy. They’re needed in large amounts. Macros comprise protein, carbohydrates, and fat.
Micronutrients

Proteins are giving your body structure. Proteins are important cells from bone to skin and muscle. It is used for initial growth. It is important for health and body maintenance. All hormones, antibodies, and many other essential substances in the body are made from protein. The body normally does not use protein as an energy source unless it is absolutely needed.
Proteins are made up of various amino acids. While the body can produce some amino acids on its own, there are essential amino acids that must be obtained through food. A proper mix of these amino acids is necessary for the body to work efficiently and stay healthy.
